Biography: Daniel M. Reser, J.D.
Mr. Reser has been a corporate fiduciary for corporate securities and reorganization transactions as well as trustee and custodian of retirement plans for over 25 years. Most of that time was as an officer or director of large national and international bank trust divisions. Before founding Fiduciary Services, Inc. he was Vice President and manager for Wilmington Trust Company's, Corporate Client Services office based in Los Angeles, California. Currently he is the President of Fiduciary Services, Inc., a registered investment adviser located in San Rafael, California.
Mr. Reser grew up in Lafayette, Indiana and left to attend Southern Methodist University where he obtained a BA and a Juris Doctorate. During his time in law school he also clerked at the law firm, Winstead Sechrest & Minick P.C.. Here, he assisted their national bank client in researching the document covenants and reorganizing the administration of their corporate trust division. After graduation from law school, he took a full time position in the corporate trust division of the state's largest bank holding company in Houston. There he managed the fiduciary, administrative and operational aspects of corporate trusts and retirement plans.
Mr. Reser went on to hold increasingly responsible positions at banks in Texas and then came to California to work for Security Pacific National Bank trust division, subsequently acquired by Bank of America. At Security Pacific he was the manager of a 35-person trust administration group in Los Angeles. He then moved to Seattle to manage a four state northwest region of trust administration offices for the bank. He returned to Los Angeles in 1990 to help manage relationship teams of retirement plan trust administrators and trust operations personnel at Bank of America. Retirement plan clients included small and mid-sized companies to Fortune 500 company plans of various types.
Mr. Reser became Division Manager for the Trust Division of Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank of California, now a subsidiary of Mizuho Holdings, one of the largest banks in the world. There he developed a strong fiduciary, administrative, operations and sales staff. He also established vendor alliances that allowed the retirement plan department to be national in scope and grow 10 times the level of assets in four years. In corporate trust, he developed a model to streamline administration and operations that prompted the bank to become one of the fastest growing corporate trust departments nationally.
Mr. Reser was certified as a Certified Corporate Trust Specialist by the American Bankers Association. He graduated from the UCLA John Anderson Graduate School of Management Executive Program. He is also a member of the Western Pension Benefits Conference, The ESOP Association and the National Center for Employee Ownership. Mr. Reser has had his presentations picked up on newswires for speaking at ESOP Association events.
